Collecting old photographs has become a bit of an obsession for me.
I can’t pass a second hand or antique shop without having a rummage through old family albums and boxes of untitled pictures.
At one time these images were conversations pieces, two-dimensional memories of family and places and holidays and weddings and houses.
Most of the pictures I find are without any citation. All the information I have about them is contained only in the picture.
Occasionally there are some interesting clues. An image of a place or a person with a couple of hints as to they may be or the story behind that moment in time.
This chap is a case in point. All the clues are here, but where do I begin trying to find out who he is?
It’s hard to make out the images on the medals, but the emblem on his shirt perhaps suggests a cricket club. N Pl C C?
Initial investigation online has thrown up NPL Teddington – now called NPLCC based in the grounds of the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington.
But this could be totally wrong – I will drop them an email, but that first C could be a G and then it could be golf not cricket. But is he dressed for golf?
If anyone has any suggestions I’d really appreciate your help.
It would be good to put a name to this chap – he’s obviously very proud of what ever his achievement is.
